ANDREW WHITE, CEO of CHAR Technologies & President of CharTech Solutions

Andrew is the co-founder of CHAR Technologies. He completed his graduate work in chemical engineering at the University of Toronto. Andrew co-founded CHAR Technologies Inc. while completing a Master’s Degree in Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) at the University of Waterloo, where his student team won the IBK Capital Ivey Business Plan Competition.

Andrew also won “Innovator Idol” in June 2012, a Dragons’ Den-inspired competition of entrepreneurs organized by The RIC Centre for commercializing Canadian technologies.

Brian Bobbie

Brian Bobbie, COO of CHAR Technologies & President of Altech

Brian leads Altech Environmental Consulting Ltd., an environmental and energy engineering firm based in Toronto, Ontario, comprised of 13 senior engineers and scientists. Altech’s clients include major food & beverage, steel, automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing industrial firms across Canada and internationally.

Brian is also Chief Administrative Officer for Altech’s parent firm, Char Technologies Ltd., with senior responsibility for corporate resources and administration.

Brian received his degree in chemistry and physics from the University of Waterloo in 1978 and has more than 30 years of technical and business experience in environmental science, engineering consulting and management in a variety of corporations including the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and large consulting firms. Brian is a registered Chartered Chemist and a current and previous director and officer on several environment association boards.

Mark Korol, CFO

Mark Korol has over 20 years experience as a chief financial officer in a variety of industries, including 7 years of public company experience at Zenon Environmental and CDI Education Corp.  He has spent the last 2 years at the Arturos Group, an international vertically integrated hospitality business with 2,000 employees, and prior to that 12 years with the Xela Group of Companies, a diversified multinational private company with 5,000 employees concentrated in the agricultural and hospitality industries.

Mark has held various financial positions over his career including research analyst with National Bank Financial in Toronto.

Mark obtained his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor and a B.A. in Economics & Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario.  He is a Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  Mark is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Accredited Business Valuator (ABV).  Mark holds the Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D) and has been a Board member of both private and public companies with international operations.

Alex Keen, Founder (Altech Group) and Senior Consultant

Alex Keen is the Founder of the Altech Group of Companies. He has over 45 years of experience in environmental management, environmental studies, occupational health & safety, industrial process engineering, and environmental technology development. In June 2018, Altech Technology Systems rebranded to CharTech Solutions, offering the same cost-effective innovations and practical designs to solve issues relating to your business.

Formerly with the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Imperial Oil Limited, Alex’s international experience includes project development and management for several hundred national and multi-national firms seeking integration of environmental solutions with business operations.

Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies (with Honours), and a minor in Economics from the University of Waterloo. He is a founding member of the Canadian Environmental Auditing Association (CEAA) and Ontario Environmental Industries Association (ONEIA).

Dr. Don Kirk, Co-founder (CHAR) and Technical Advisor

Dr. Kirk is the co-founder of CHAR Technologies. He is currently a tenured professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Kirk has more than twenty-five years of experience in research and innovation, and has extensive knowledge in the area of solid adsorbents. Over the course of his career, he has developed fifteen patents and published more than fifty papers and journals related to solid waste, hydrogen, and green energy.
